Membership in The American Legion Auxiliary-Unit 347


Auxiliary Membership Eligibility

You may join the American Legion Auxiliary if you meet the following conditions:

NEW FOR 2020 MEMBERSHIP YEAR: Male spouses are now eligible to join the Auxiliary! Please review the eligibility requirements below to see if you qualify!

Membership in the American Legion Auxiliary shall be limited to the grandmothers, mothers, sisters, spouses, and direct and adopted female descendants of all men and women who were in the Armed Forces of The United States during any of the following periods: April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918 and any time after December 7, 1941; or who, being a citizen of the United States at the time of their entry therein, served on active duty in the Armed Forces of any of the governments associated with the United States during either eligibility periods and died in the line of duty or after honorable discharge; and to those women who of their own right are eligible for membership in The American Legion.

If you join before August 31st your membership is valid for the current calendar year. If you join after August 31st your membership is valid for the current year and the following year.

If you need help obtaining the records to prove your eligibility visit The National Personnel Records Center, Military Personnel Records.  It is the repository of millions of military personnel, health, and medical records of discharged and deceased veterans of all services during the 20th century.  Information from the records is made available upon written request (with signature and date) to the extent allowed by law.  Help with acquiring a copy of your relative's service records can sometimes be obtained through the National Archives Record Center.
